“Versatility” is a word that honestly haunts me because there are many days that I stare at my closet full of sequins, leather, faux fur, mesh, you name it and think to myself “well shit you can’t wear any of this crap more than once.” With that being said versatility is something every fashion slave like myself loves to hate and hates to love. I would rather buy the black sequin jumpsuit that I’ll only wear once rather than the LBD that all the magazines list as a “must-have”. But on the rare occasion when I do opt for the classic rather then the onetime wear — I wear it to death.
This Mango slip dress practically spoke to me from the racks and I knew it would become a staple in my wardrobe–and that it has. Slip dresses are everywhere this season. It is the kind of piece that can be alluring but also super refined depending on how you style it. Ladies this is the kind of piece that can be the secret weapon in your wardrobe because every time I wear it I get compliments from guys…while they aren’t admiring how on trend I am they really think “that lacy thing is super dope”. The slip dress allows you to be super sexy without screaming look at me! To prove how multifaceted this specific dress is I am posting two looks that are as polar opposite as the people on team Taylor versus the people on team Kimye. You get the point, the looks are different as shit. The first look is probably as girly as I’ll EVER get. While the second look is definitely truer to what I’ve been rocking lately — an edgier, athletic inspired look. And it’s all look because as anyone who knows me knows I am the LEAST athletic person on this planet.
One last tip before I go –when styling a slip dress a little effort is required because we don’t want anyone walking around in what looks like lingerie…thats only ok on halloween when we get to dress like sexy cops, sexy cats, sexy witches….. you get it.
